We’ve done it! Well half of it anyway!
We wanted to say a big hello – HELLO! – to make contact with you all and to let you know where we are at.
We’ve cut the red ribbon and completed Phase 1 of the Chapel (see address below) and are very excited to open up, to start to use the building for activities and most importantly to get to see all our Shabang families and friends again. We have a welcoming entrance; ‘Gwennie’s’ activity space; ‘The Pink’ room has sofas and kitchen facilities; the garden is full of sensory plants and flowers with an outdoor play space; plus accessible toilets and changing facilities.
Phase 2 is ongoing and we have the building team on site every day until 4pm working on the main chapel area, the gallery and vestry rooms.
Our plan is to begin slowly opening up after the half term holidays – we will be in touch with you to let you know. We will start to run activities and groups again – staying safe and being careful by limiting numbers per session; cleaning and ventilating areas; providing hand sanitation stations on entry and around the building; and staff will have regular lateral flow tests.
Parking facilities – as everywhere in the world is limited. We do have a very small car park but it is likely to be full of builders vans until we have finished Phase 2. We are trying to be sensitive to our neighbours by not parking too many vehicles on Hollins Row. Some other ideas for parking locally include:-
– Aldi, Britannia Road, Slaithwaite – 3 hours free parking
– Commercial Street, Slaithwaite – the next street parallel to Hollins Row
– Manchester Road, Slaithwaite
– top of Hollins Row, drive past the Chapel
