We have been up and running at The Chapel since October 2021 with regular groups, events and activities organised on a small-scale, and in a careful way as we edge back to full capacity after Covid-19.

Throughout this extraordinary year, our fabulous team have been cracking on with the restoration of the chapel.
Outside we now have steps to the allotment area and thanks to a grant from Historic England we are about to begin repairs on the old stone roof.

So – here we are. We came through Lock Down 1, prepared to enter Tier 3 but alas here comes Lockdown 2 – better buy some materials quick before the supplies close down!
Throughout all these strange changes our magnificent team have been working at the chapel, staying safe and making huge strides on all areas.
The garden is looking very autumnal . Our crop of courgettes and beans have come to an end – just a few carrots and leeks left to enjoy. Russell’s apple tree bore a single apple this year but never was a man more proud of his fruit!!
When we first acquired this beautiful chapel of ours and we sat down to dream about how it would look – what would go where etc the one aspect that daunted us more than most was the ceiling of the chapel itself. The ceiling comprised of three beautiful and elaborate Georgian plasterwork roses, a decorated plaster border around the entire edge (corners of which were damaged with damp and dry rot), and …
In November 2017 Shabang acquired the lease of a disused Baptist Chapel in Slaithwaite with the view to restoring it and opening it as a new Creative Centre for our ever-growing Shabang family.
Friends from Sigma who are fundraising for Shabang have successfully climbed Kilimanjaro – thank you and well done!
