Throughout this extraordinary year, our fabulous team have been cracking on with the restoration of the chapel.
Outside we now have steps to the allotment area and thanks to a grant from Historic England we are about to begin repairs on the old stone roof.
Inside, glazed panels to the entrance are being fabricated by local firm CVF and will be fitted in the New Year and the chapel windows are being painted in original colours by our wonderful volunteer Judy. The new floor has been laid and the organ repaired. In other news we have a mole who is being very creative with our back garden lawn and beautiful Christmas lights at the windows including an illuminated heart, fashioned by Russell (after a great deal of deliberation and perfecting) – it’s amazing what you can achieve with a couple of coat hangers!
We were fortunate to be accepted onto the Match It Scheme run by the One Community Foundation Kirklees – this means any donations over the Christmas and New Year period will be matched ie doubled. We are hoping to reach our target of £5k which will give us a £10k funding boost for the chapel. A huge thank to everyone who has donated.
Bring on 2021!
